Artists: Sally Eliza Wood, Marie-Alice Dumont, Anne Katherine Kew, Doreen Lindsay, Marisa Portolese, Mackenzie Stroh
Curator: Lucie Bureau
Produced by the Centre d'exposition de Val-d'Or, Sous l'œil de la photographe. Portraits de femmes 1898-2003 brings together portraits by six Quebec women photographers from two different eras. Three of these women – Sally Eliza Wood, Marie-Alice Dumont, Anne Katherine Kew – were pioneers in the first half of the 20th century, whereas the others – Doreen Lindsay, Marisa Portolese, Mackenzie Stroh – are contemporary artists. Curator Lucie Bureau's primary aim with this exhibition is to "look at the ways in which women photographers appropriated the picture-making process – especially in pictures of women – throughout the 20th century."
The exhibition Sous l'œil de la photographe. Portraits de femmes 1898-2003 is a production of Centre d'exposition de Val-d'Or.
Opening Saturday, September 10 at 3 pm
Presentation by Lucie Bureau Saturday, September 21 at 7 pm.
